Frog

After an original watercolor by Karin Åkesdotter. Original work linked.

This painting is my oil interpretation of an original watercolor by Karin Åkesdotter. I was drawn to the clarity of the form and the quiet humor of the subject—small, alert, and strangely expressive.

I approached it as a study in translation: from watercolor to oil, from transparency to density, from wash to structure. It’s also a way of practicing what I love most right now—borrowing a spark, then building my own language around it with light, edges, and color.

Original watercolor: by Karin Åkesdotter (linked here). Used with the artist’s permission.
