I paint memory, disguised as still life.
I’m Patricia, an oil painter based in Spain (and often elsewhere). I work mainly in oil, sometimes building the surface with gesso and paper, sometimes moving quickly on paper with charcoal and pastel, and occasionally using clay when an idea needs form rather than image.
My subjects are ordinary things that carry more than they should: a coffee ritual, fruit on a table, a room that still feels inhabited, a figure caught mid-shift. I’m drawn to what lingers—how memory attaches itself to light, or darkness, how color can say what language won’t, and how a simple scene can hold tension or tenderness without explaining itself.
I trained as an engineer and worked as a product designer in tech. I still work that way: structure, iteration, attention. Painting is where those tools stop serving efficiency and start serving honesty.
