Girl in the Box

Patricia de Llano · 2025
Oil on canvas with paper collage · 53 × 74 cm

From Patricia’s existing artwork account:

“A biographical work built with discipline: an invisible box holding the accumulated discomfort of 2024. Dates and events overlay the eye; shredded music sheets form the trees; the background stays suspended.”

“The image was constructed until it could carry what couldn’t be said.”

“I was the girl in the box. I don’t intend to return there.”

A closer look

This study asks whether moving from the whole painting into two of its physical details changes the experience of returning to it.

The photograph stays intact. The sequence magnifies parts of the original high-resolution photograph; it adds no generated detail. The two short annotations are excerpts from Patricia’s existing artwork account.
